Time for tea: Ginger Snaps

 

 

 

This time for tea is not for those with sensitive taste buds! These gingery goodies are spicy and intense…

I’m sure there is a joke there somewhere 😉

Ingredients:

  • 60g butter
  • 90g golden syrup
  • 125g eslf raising flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar

You will need to start by greasing and lining a baking tray or two, and pre-heating your oven to 190C.

Then mix all of the dry ingredients into a bowl.

Set that to one side while you melt the butter and golden syrup in a pan.

Once you have mixed the wet and try ingredients together and then role into 12-15 balls of equal size.

Squash these down a little and then bake them for 15 minutes, until they are crackled on the top.

These are very spicy, so if you don’t want them as strong on the flavour then add 1 tsp of ginger rather than 2.

For this one my tea recommendation would have to be a good old-fashioned English breakfast. You need something strong to stand up to these bad boys!
